My daughter spent the afternoon hairflipping at the MOMA in NY.
Portrait of Joseph Roulin • Van Gogh, 1889

"A good soul, so wise, so full of feeling and so trustful"--is how Vincent Van Gogh described his friend Joseph-Etienne Roulin. Van Gogh drew and painted many portraits of Roulin, a postal worker in Arles, France, where Van Gogh lived. In letters and pictures, Van Gogh idealized Roulin, regarding him as both a man of the people and a sage.

My daughter lives in NY.  She is hairflipping in and area called Red Hook in Brooklyn. It's close to her house and right on the water in the southwestern part of the city. Red Hook provides a charming waterfront setting with buoy houses and quirky isolated wannabe fisherman. Seems there was a lot of rabble rousing here on the docks in the early part of the last century. Notorious gangster Al Capone got his start as a small-time criminal and received the wound that led to his nickname, “Scarface,” here in Red Hook.

Gaddafi... he was never my friend.
Holds what looks like a real human scalp atop a gold scepter.
He must have hairflipped it around in more celebratory times.
Glad we stopped this one!
